How To Add A Shared Notebook In OneNote
Before you begin, please make sure you know your Office 365 login.
The username format will be firstname.lastname@example.org
In order to get a shared Notebook to appear in your OneNote application, you will need to confirm that you are able to sign into your Office 365 account before you begin.
Please follow the link below for instructions on how to sign into Office 365:
Start by launching the OneNote application on your computer. The icon should look like this:
You can now minimize the application, just make sure it remains open. Now, open up your web browser and go to:
Sign into your Office 365 account and go to the Outlook (Mail) app.
Find the share invite that was sent to your 365 account and open the email. Inside, there will be a link to the shared Notebook at the bottom of the email. Click the blue link and it will take you to the OneNote Online version of the Notebook.
To add this Online Notebook to your OneNote application, go to the top left of the webpage and click the "OPEN IN ONENOTE" button, as seen below:
You will then see the following Pop-Up and you will need to select "OneNote (desktop)":
**If using Chrome you may receive an additional prompt
If so, select "Launch"
Once you have completed Step 4, you may be prompted for your Office 365 Credentials. If that happens, just provide them once more and the Notebook will be available on your OneNote Application.
From this point on, you can close the app and reopen it and the shared Notebook will remain available for editing.
