The Technology Department has enabled SSL decryption on select websites across the district.

This is necessary in order to allow the District’s content filter to detect when inappropriate terms are entered into search engines like Google.

If you use a personal android device on the District’s network like a mobile phone or tablet, your personal device will need some attention.

From your device, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1

Download the certificate by selecting the link below.

STEP 2

Open the Settings and Tap Security & location and then Advanced and then Encryption & credentials.

STEP 3

Under "Credential storage," tap Install from storage.

STEP 4

In the top left, tap Menu Menu.

STEP 5

Under "Open from," tap where you saved the certificate.

STEP 6

Tap the file. (If needed, enter the key store password. Select OK.)

STEP 7

Type a name for the certificate like "BISD" or something that makes sense to you.

STEP 8

Pick VPN and apps, Then select OK.

STEP 9

If you haven't already set a PIN, pattern, or password for your device, you’ll be asked to set one up.

NOTEIf you choose not to do this, you will see an error message every time you browse to one of these sites warning you that your ‘connection is not private’.

Installing the certificate keeps your connection private and only allows the content filter to detect inappropriate terms.

This will also apply to students and guests who use the District’s Wi-Fi on personal devices.

They are encouraged to install the certificate as well.
