The Technology Department has enabled SSL decryption on select websites across the district.

This is necessary in order to allow the District’s content filter to detect when inappropriate terms are entered into search engines like Google.

If you use a personal macOS device on the District’s network like a Macbook, iMac, or Mac Pro, your personal device will need some attention.

From your device, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1

Download the certificate by selecting the link below.

Device Certificate Install

STEP 2

Open Finder

STEP 3

Navigate and Select Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access

STEP 4

Select System in the left column.

STEP 5

In the Menu bar select File > Import Items.

STEP 6

Navigate to the downloaded certificate then select Open.

STEP 7

Enter the your device password.

STEP 8

Double click the imported item. Select the arrow next to Trust to expand the settings.

Next to "When using this certificate", change the setting to "Always Trust" then select the X  to close the windows.

STEP 9

Enter the your device password.

NOTE: If you choose not to do this, you will see an error message every time you browse to one of these sites warning you that your ‘connection is not private’.

Installing the certificate keeps your connection private and only allows the content filter to detect inappropriate terms.

This will also apply to students and guests who use the District’s Wi-Fi on personal devices.

They are encouraged to install the certificate as well.
