There may be times when you wish to run software that was developed for a previous version of Windows. Older software can cause hiccups and unforeseen issues when it is attempted to run on later versions of Windows operating systems.

 

If you find that your older software is running into issues while in use, you can run the software in compatibility mode. Below is an example of how this can be done:

 

Step 1

Right click on the application that you wish to run in compatibility mode and select the properties tab.

 

 

 

Step 2

Select the compatibility tab at the top of the menu. At the top you will need to check the box that reads "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and then select the operating system that you wish to use from the drop down. Many times Windows XP will suffice, but you may need to check the installation disk for what operating system the program was made for.

Make sure that you hit the Apply button before closing the Window.
