Set Up an iTunes Account Without a Credit Card
STEP 1.
If you do not currently have iTunes installed, please visit the following link:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Click the Download Now button on the left and after it has finished downloading, run through the setup wizard to get the application on your computer.
STEP 2.
Launch the iTunes application. The shortcut will look like this:
STEP 3.
You will now be on the iTunes store page. On the right hand side of the screen you will see a drop down menu that usually says "Music." You will need to click the drop down arrow and select "App Store."
**If you have just recently installed iTunes, or have never used the application before, your page may look different than the one above. Just click the next button to continue past the initial prompts and start from the beginning of step 3.**
STEP 4.
Scroll down to about the middle of the page and on the right side of the screen you will see a section for "Top Free Apps."
Hover your mouse over whatever app is listed at the #1 spot (it doesn't matter what it is) and you will see a "Get" button popup. Go ahead and click "Get."
Next, an iTunes sign in prompt will pop up. At the bottom of the prompt, you will see a "Create Apple ID" button. Go ahead and click that button.
STEP 5.
Click Continue on the first page that comes up and you will immediately be taken to the Terms and Conditions page that looks similar to this:
Here you can read the terms and conditions of having an iTunes account. Once you have read the document, click the check box that says "I have read and agree to the terms and conditions," then click the agree button.
STEP 6.
Fill out the requested information and select if you would like receive email notifications. Then click continue.
STEP 7.
If you have done the previous steps correctly, under "payment type" you will see an option for "none." If you do not wish to attach a credit card to your account, you MUST select this option.
Fill Out the address information and at the bottom right click create Apple ID
STEP 8.
At this point, iTunes will send you an email to whatever address you used at the beginning of the sign up process. You will need to check your email and click the “verify now” link. It will take your through a prompt that will have you sign in with the information you created at the beginning of the sign-up process.
STEP 9.
Now go back to the iTunes application and click sign in at the top right. You will probably already be signed in, but if not just go ahead and do so.
That’s it! You have now successfully created an iTunes account without a credit card attached to it.
