NOTE: Starting 1/28/2020, the Junk E-Mail folder/filter DOES Blacklist or Whitelist emails addresses. 


You can manage your junk sender list by following the steps described in this article.


You will no longer need to submit a request through the BISD Service Catalog.




The Outlook Junk Email Filter moves suspected spam to the Junk Email folder.

You can add names, email addresses and domains to these lists so the filter doesn’t check messages from sources you trust, or blocks messages that arrive from specific email addresses and domains you don't know or trust.




OUTLOOK ONLINE / WEBMAIL


Webmail gives you the option to individually mark a received email as junk or move an email that has been marked as junk out of the junk e-mail folder.


If a good message appears in the junk folder that you need to retrieve, right-click and select 'mark as not junk'. You will then be given the option to add that sender to never block:


 

If a bad/junk message appears in your inbox, you can right-click and choose to 'mark it as junk,' which will add the email to your personal blacklist and move the message to the junk email folder:

Use the Junk Email filter options below.





Safe Senders List


Add email addresses and domains which are never treated as junk email, regardless of the content of the message.




Never Block Sender


The Never Block Sender option adds the sender's email address to the Safe Senders List, then moves the email to the Inbox.


Select Home > Junk > Never Block Sender





Never Block Sender's Domain


The Never Block Sender's Domain option adds the sender's domain (@example.com) to the Safe Senders List, moves the email to the Inbox.


Select Home > Junk > Never Block Sender's Domain




Safe Recipients List


If you belong to a mailing list or a distribution list, you can add the list sender to the Safe Recipients List.




Never Block this Group or Mailing List

The Never Block this Group or Mailing List option adds the group or distribution list email to the Safe Recipients List.


Select > Home > Junk > Never Block this Group or Mailing List




Blocked Senders List


You can easily block messages from particular senders by adding their email addresses or domain names to the Blocked Senders List.




Block Sender


The Block Sender option adds the sender's email address to the Block Senders List, then moves the email to the Junk Email folder.


Select > Home > Junk > Never Block Sender

STEP 2


Select the list tab you would like to modify, Safe Senders, Safe Recipients, or Blocked Senders.
